For Mother’s Day this year I had the honor of sharing the Word online (due to COVID-19) with our church body — Real Church. It’s something my husband, Tom, has wanted me to do for years now and I finally got to make that happen. I don’t know if it was easier or harder to share via recording, or what it would have been like to do face to face; —what I can tell you is, that it was challenging to share the Word that was burning in my heart without seeing real people in front of me. I just really wanted everyone to get it. I mean get it. Behind a screen it’s a bit hard to gauge the response, BUT I’ve got a whole lot of faith that when you’re obedient to God in what He gives you, He won’t let good fruit fall to the ground. That’s why I’m re-sharing this word here with you.

If I could ever give you anything — one thing that you would hear and receive to change your life as a christian or on your journey to meet Christ, it would be this Word. I have this aching desire to get this into the bellies of God’s people and those searching for Him. It is something that God has been speaking to my heart about for years and continues to do so. I want it to go deep down into your core.

Now the delivery of this word is something I may need to work on. Do you ever want to deliver something the way you hear it in your head so badly that you let the nerve bug get to you? Yep, that’s me too! This was a giant leap outside of my comfort zone. I’m sure you will note the nerves and the mess ups, so give some grace to a newbie speaker, let’s pretend that you don’t hear those. God’s got a lot of work to do on me, but I want to always be willing to do things that stretch me for His purposes to be fulfilled. I believe one day it won’t feel so hard. Maybe even the microphone will be my friend? Until then I’m in the arms of a good teacher. So bare with me and hear my heart in this.

Hebrews 4:12, read three ways below. Ask the Holy Spirit to help give you wisdom and discernment as you read.

1. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 KJV
2. “For the word of God is living and active and full of power (making it operative, energizing, and effective). It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit (the completeness of a person), and of both the joints and marrow (the deepest parts of our nature), exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 AMP
3. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing of soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NIV

I love reading the different versions of the same scripture. It gives such a broader spectrum of what all the scriptures are saying. I find it so fascinating to compare the breakdowns of each version, to dive deeper into the truths of God’s Word that are so clearing defined.

Further exploring the meaning of this word shows us that the definition of the word alive is (of a person, animal, or plant) living, not dead. Alert and active. Simply put, God is telling us that his very word, a—k—a, the Bible, is living, active and alive.

Now read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1

Ok so God’s Word is ALIVE and the WORD IS GOD. Wow.

Read: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” Genesis 1:1-4 

Ok, so that tells us that God speaks out His will — His Word and it goes and does what He spoke it to be. That’s pretty powerful! That tells us just as God spoke out His Word to form the world, He has given us the POWER through His Word to speak it out in our situations.

Read: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21

That means us — His children, those who live for Christ, when we speak it out — it goes out effectively. We are calling out his alive word to do the work it was created to do in accordance to God’s will and the name of Jesus.

Read: “I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in HIS WORD do I hope.” Psalms 130:5

It is our choice to accept and start believing and walking in God’s Word. It is our choice— just like a lightbulb turns on. When we truly start speaking it, FREEDOM comes, JOY comes, PEACE COMES. As a evangelist I knew growing up used to say, “Are you people getting this!?”

His Word is to be grabbed a hold of. It is our’s for the taking, for the dwelling, for the pouring out! It is not enough to simply agree and not apply. It is an action. It means when trials come you combat it with the WORD. When anxiety comes you kick it out with His Word. It is not enough to be hearers of the Word only, but we are to be DOERS.

IT IS AN ACTION WORD TO BELIEVE. FAITH IS AN ACTION WORD.

Read: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if anyone be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in the glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” James 1:22-24

Come on somebody!

When we are speaking God’s word, which enables us to put action to our faith and be a doer — not just a hearer, we will not forget whose we are. The power we have in Christ’s name to speak life over our situations. The power in His name to overcome!!!

Here Are Two Life Changing Factors:

1. BELIEF
2. TRUST

It’s a lot to say you believe in Christ and His Word. But do you really believe? To believe it means that when you read His Word you are applying it to your situation and walking away in peace. Are you hearing it only but not applying? Are you hearing His Word and walking away frantic, worried and overwhelmed? The application part is missing if this is the case and there is a big difference.

You see belief in his Word takes true belief. Which requires trust. Trust in His Word means you BELIEVE what it says. Like TRULY believe! Not speaking His Word nonchalantly or as a “maybe in case it works?” When you speak His word you must believe it and trust it.

There is so much peace in grabbing a hold of this simple truth.

The thing about it is, ONLY YOU can grab a hold of this for yourself. No one can do it for you. Not your spouse, not your parents, not your pastor. Only YOU — YOURSELF can grab a hold of the TRUTH and choose to receive it.

We have sooooo many times given so much room for the enemy to make war with us. We have entertained his lies, and sought to answer all his accusations and inquiries. But I encourage you that it is time that we make no more room for the enemy to swarm our mind when we are founded on the Word. When we stay firm on it. When we know that we know, the truth of his word. The devil can not have his way with our mind when we allow no space, no footing, no crack for him to sneak in a thought or accusation.

I repeat myself to say, if there was ever anything I ever wanted someone to grab a hold of it would be this very thing. His Word is mighty, powerful — and if you TRULY grab a hold of it and apply it for your situation, you TRULY can have perfect peace.

His Word can fight the battles for you because it is ALIVE and MOVING, AND NO MATTER HOW YOU FEEL GOD’S Word is TRUE.

So even when you feel shaky or scared or maybe nervous — still keep speaking his word, each day. You will get stronger. Keep speaking it until you have overcome that battle and the next time around you will be ready.

You will be able to cast down the old enemy of fear, panic, worry and replace with YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW because YOU’VE been through some things and you ain’t playing the devil’s games anymore. You’re no longer in a place of discussing with the enemy any more. YOU’RE STICKING your head in the WORD and you aren’t wavering from what it says! GOD says YOU ARE HIS, than you are His and there is NO ARGUMENT that can come against that. God says not to worry, SO DO NOT WORRY – IT IS A CHOICE TO ALIGN WITH THE WORD.

I am living proof this is possible. I have gone through two extreme battles with anxiety in my life. In the first one, after months of dealing with a whirlwind of a spiritual battle, I remember the night I began to overcame. You see I had been through months of torment in my mind, an attack of the enemy so quick spewing nothing but lies that I was fully battling them out, trying to answer every one of his accusations. I had gone for prayer so many times, received encouraging words, rended my heart over and over with my close circle of friends, but it was never enough. I couldn’t get out of it, they couldn’t fix me.

One night I was pleading with the Lord in desperation, expressing my love for him, when I recognized the enemy’s voice so clear. It was a defining moment in my life. Learning whose voice you are listening to is key. I knew suddenly the enemy always brought hopelessness to every situation where the Lord ALWAYS brings HOPE — even in correction.

In that moment I came to understand the most simple and profound truth — It is a matter of believing what you read in God’s word, it is a matter of believing, truly believing to the CORE of your inner being that His Word is the ultimate truth and NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING that comes against that can waiver your thoughts on the TRUTH. IT IS A MATTER OF STANDING FIRM ON THAT TRUTH FOR YOURSELF AND ACCEPTING IT AS THE SOLE SOURCE OF TRUTH NO MATTER WHAT.

If God’s word says it’s true than nothing can change that. It’s a matter of grabbing a hold of that Word and standing firm. And it may sound so simple but it is so TRUE. We have the ability to REST, to walk in peace and JOY no matter the situation because we choose to trust him and his word no matter how anything looks. Rest is attainable simply by grabbing a hold of his word continually.

Read: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

His Word is alive. Jesus is the word. We have perfect peace when we grab a hold of the Word (Jesus). USE IT, BELIEVE IT, TRUST in IT. Then we will have perfect peace and be HEARERS AND DOERS of His ALIVE, LIVING, BREATHING WORD.

Read: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Yes Lord. It’s a choice to receive truth, God I pray that those reading this would believe your true Word, soak it up like a sponge, grab a hold of it and never let go of it. What life giving words you gave us to live by, to apply, to direct, to calm, to strengthen. Everything we have need of it in you Lord. Thank you Father. In your precious name I pray, Amen.
