Mother’s Day weekend trip. Such a success. Such a gift. One day trip to Jacksonville Beach, and many, many days spent in those good old lazy rivers and pools. I soaked up motherhood while fully allowing myself to swim like a kid with no care. Relaxed by the pool, soaking up Jesus time and safe dusk sun (fried tomato problems! 😬 Irish blood running deep). Missed my kiddos being babies, but learning to embrace this more grown up phase they are entering into. Motherhood is a tricky place of them needing you and you needing them. Regardless, cherishing all these amazing moments God blesses us for life, joy and memories to be made. Thankful beyond words. Also, big thank you to @tomcuree @mantiquingwithmywife who is always slaying to provide for us. #mothersdaygetaway #cherishinglife #lifeisagift 40 years old. Yeah, ok, I get it…I’m forty years old now and I’m just now hitting some BIG milestones if you ask me. I know it’s ridiculous but for the first time I drove through a car wash all by myself—I don’t know why, it’s one of those things I always felt freaked out to do, like I was going to somehow majorly screw it up. Maybe it’s from watching too many, “when things go wrong shows” as a kid. Either way I conquered my fear this week and just did the darn thing. Secondly, I faced my fear of driving to the airport without Tom! What got even more challenging was that Tom was supposed to meet us at the airport (arriving from another work conference) to fly with us to Orlando, FL for a gifted Mother’s Day Weekend. This would allow us to still be together for another work conference and Mother’s Day weekend. However, per usual with airports, all Tom’s travel got screwed up and the only way for him to get to Orlando was to take a two hour Uber drive to fly from Arkansas to New Orleans to Orlando to meet us. So, with self-motivating speeches, Jesus’s hand in mind, encouragement from my momma, Tom and friends, I put my big girl britches on and faced more fears of the unknown. Got all four kiddos and I, our luggage, etc. all safely to the airport, through shuttles, through security and clear, and on plane like a freaking boss lady. Blotchy, a little sweaty, and shaky but I did it. Tom’s seat sat empty, we landed safely and we were ever so thankful to see Tom again. So yeah, I’m 40 now and I’m pretty much knocking down fears left and right. What’s next to conquer? We shall see. Feeling pretty proud of myself and learned I can read directions!! 😜 #mothersdaygetaway P.S. also a big thank you to my kiddos for helping me, for Nakoda’s help reading signs to the airport and as always for her help with everyone’s hair 😜. Together we made this trip possible! Shop is set up for spring in our 1973 Airstream and you can shop us until 4pm today right here on our property in our barn drive: Our Easter weekend adventures. It was full and enjoyable. We soaked up every moment. Much needed dinner with friends on Friday evening. Saturday began with breakfast at The Coop in Chillicothe, followed by a tour at the Adena Mansion for some good inspiration for our own home, Starbucks run and food prep for Easter. Tom and I truly take great joy in surprising our kiddos with adventures. Their Easter announcement & gift was much needed luggage and sharing our future planned trip to the west for the first time with all of them to Arizona and the Grand Canyon. With thankful hearts we enjoyed great food and good music. While we miss many who are no longer with us, we’ve learned to savor what we have and soak up all the family time we can get. It was a good weekend and we are thankful for what Jesus did for us and YOU. #savor #easterweekend #familytime #familyadventures #thankyouJesus After being in perfect sunny Florida weather this week and all the tropical foliage, I’m dreaming of warmer temperatures, spring & summer florals, and making pretty bouquets again for my house and gatherings at our home. These beauties are from last seasons’ growth and then various vases I made for my kiddos big birthday party. #florals #springiscoming #summerscoming #flowerdreaming #freckledandfree Winter weather the last few weeks till today. It’s simply beautiful. Restful. From flurries to winter storms, to sunny snow days with patches of snow falling, to snow melting into a beauty of fog and rain. I feel and see a hint of spring will be coming soon. 🌺 🌼 🌧️ “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Completion. That picture of something I had drew up in my mind now reality. The center of our home, our meeting place, our refueling space, the place to gather and connect became all we had wanted at the work of our own hands. It is possible to have a designer home. A space created with character and stories. A well-loved, and well-lived in space that contains all the beauty you can dream up. Collect your inspiration, spend time dreaming and planning it. Live in it to know it well. Understand its needs and functions in your home. And then—you just have to do it. For more details on this particular space and the stories behind it check out the blog. That endearing little idea that dared us to do it (open the wall up) did indeed turn out as dear as we imagined it to be. Our sweet kiddos filled it with joy and the additional seating it offered when entertaining was a plus. Being able to honor separate rooms in this historical home while allowing some sight between the kitchen and dining room saved this busy momma. We spent a lot of time thinking on creating it well, while maximizing function. For the counter we used an old bowling ball flooring we found on marketplace. Paired with four resin wicker bar stools I’d been dreaming of for each one of our four kiddos. Sure is adorable. While this won’t always be the answer for every space that touches, in our particular set up it was. These photos show the accomplishing design of the two rooms existing together. Two different colors working in balance. Harmony? Yes. Cohesiveness? Yes. It’s something quite lovely. Bright and cheery against the dark nantucket dining room. The two work together quite nicely. A view I came to love. That beautiful wallpaper showing from the kitchen, picking up the hues from the dining room and pulling everything together. The rooms complimenting each other as if they were meant to be. A satisfying duo. Live in your spaces and study them for quite some time before deciding how to pair them. Every home will be different, but have the courage to do what you feel is right for your home. Pick hues that will in the end, compliment the other.
